Canoga Park High’s turnaround from years of struggle to a berth in the City Section Invitational playoffs are cause for celebration.
“Our only goal this year was to make the playoffs,” Coach Antony Villalobos of Canoga Park said. “We’re pretty happy. I went out and bought a new tie for Friday.”
The Hunters (13-10), who placed third with a 6-4 record in the Sunset Six League and are seeded No. 10 in the Invitational bracket, also are pleased with their first-round draw in the playoffs.
They play at seventh-seeded Marshall on Friday, hoping for a better result than a loss to the Barristers in the Eagle Rock tournament earlier this season.
