Connecticut’s El-Amin Delivers Again
Khalid El-Amin made four free throws and had a game-clinching steal in the final 26.1 seconds as No. 24 Connecticut (20-8, 9-6 Big East) managed a 74-69 victory over Rutgers (15-13, 6-9) at Piscataway, N.J.
Jake Voskuhl had 15 points and 13 rebounds as Connecticut clinched its seventh consecutive 20-win season. Dahntay Jones scored 25 points to lead Rutgers, including a long three-pointer with 15.9 seconds left to cut the Huskies’ lead to 70-69 before El-Amin’s heroics. Two days earlier he made a game-winning shot at the buzzer against West Virginia.
No. 14 Texas 68, No. 23 Kansas 54--Ivan Wagner scored a career-high 19 points and Gabe Muoneke added 16 as the Longhorns (21-7, 12-3 Big 12) stayed in contention for the conference title by defeating the Jayhawks (21-8, 10-5) at Austin, Texas.
Texas remains a game behind Big 12 leader Iowa State.
