A Bad Experience With Auto Part
* A reply to John H. Sullivan’s letter, “Lawsuit Defective, Not Auto Maker’s Product” [Nov. 28]: The product in question was defective, and I have had the experience and the bills to prove it.
I have had the problem of the TFI-IV module cutting out for years. I sealed it with a silicone caulk and electrician’s tape, but that only lasted a couple years. Then used high-temperature liquid rubber. Checked with a dealership in November 1998, and the auto maker had no recall of part because there was a class-action suit. The module finally gave out in a home-improvement store’s parking lot in August 1999 with a load of lumber on the Ford van.
If Mr. John H. Sullivan will put his money where his mouth is--namely, pay my repair costs and towing charge--I will send him the defective module.
