Holly Robinson Peete
* The actress plays Malena on the WB sitcom “For Your Love,” which airs Fridays at 9:30 p.m.
Slippery When Wet: On Saturday, all I want to do is hang out with my twins [Ryan Elizabeth and Rodney], who are 2. They’re swimming already! You just drop ‘em in the water and they’ll swim like little fish right across the pool. They’re totally into it.
Football Widow: My husband [Washington Redskins quarterback Rodney Peete] is gone half the year, so during that time, Sunday is always football day. Whether or not we can fly out to a game, on Sunday we watch football. I have a [satellite] dish, and I watch Rodney. And if he plays a late game, I’m on duty all day to give him all the updates on what happens in the first set of games. I know my stuff. When it comes to football, I tell him I know more than he does.
During the Off-Season: We like to go to the Ivy on Robertson for brunch. They serve big portions, and the food is always delicious. I’ve been going there forever, and I’ve never been disappointed. And the kids enjoy the pancakes.
Just the Two of Us: On a perfect weekend, we get a nanny or a baby-sitter after the kids go down for the night and we go out for a nice dinner. We’re in love with this place called Sushi Roku in Santa Monica. There’s also one on 3rd Street in L.A., but the one in Santa Monica is more low-key and, quite frankly, easier to get into. That’s the one we really, really enjoy. They have this yellowtail carpaccio with diced chiles that is so unbelievable. Another great dish is the popcorn rock shrimp tempura.
Garlic Lipstick: If we don’t go to Sushi Roku, we’ll probably go to Crustacean in Beverly Hills and eat this garlic crab that’s unbelievable. It’s the kind of thing you could only eat with your husband, who doesn’t mind seeing you with garlic all over your lips. It’s very messy.
Postgame Show: We recently discovered the Conga Room. Neither one of us can salsa, but we like to pretend. We’ve enjoyed going there and hearing live music. And, of course, on a perfect weekend the nanny doesn’t call you with any drama, the kids went down perfectly. And then we go home and have some us time, if you know what I mean.
