Sizzler USA Names President, CEO

* Sizzler International Inc., the Culver City-based operator of Sizzler restaurants in the U.S. and overseas, has named Thomas Metzger president and chief executive of the company’s flagship Sizzler USA unit. He succeeds Christopher R. Thomas, who announced his resignation in June and agreed to stay on until a replacement was named.

Metzger, who has more than 15 years in the restaurant industry, most recently was founder, president and CEO of Wrapsters Inc., an Atlanta-based quick-service restaurant concept. Before that, he was president and CEO of Kenny Rogers Roasters International.

* Chatsworth-based pool supplies retailer Leslie’s Poolmart Inc. has named a new top management team. President and Chief Executive Brian McDermott has been appointed chairman of the board. During his eight-year tenure, McDermott worked to expand Leslie’s retail outlets from 66 stores to 370 stores nationwide.

He will be succeeded by Lawrence Hayward, who joins Leslie’s from Fleming Cos., a wholesale and retail distributor of grocery and general merchandise. While at Fleming, Hayward served as president of ABCO Desert Markets, an Arizona-based retail chain.

* Bryan Unger was named Western executive director for Directors Guild of America, the labor guild that represents Hollywood’s film and TV directors.

* Former Warner Bros. executive Stacy Ivers has joined Beverly Hills-based International Creative Management talent agency as senior vice president, corporate communications.
