Students to Donate $1,000 to Library
A Ventura High School student organization is donating $1,000 to the E.P. Foster Library and issuing a challenge to local businesses to do the same.
The Ventura High School Associated Student Body Leadership Team on Thursday will present a $1,000 check to David Bianco, chairman of the Foster Your Future library campaign, and to County Library Director Starrett Kreisman, according to Trish Cavanaugh, a library spokeswoman.
The student team holds fund-raising events in conjunction with school clubs, and recently voted to donate to the library campaign, Cavanaugh said. Businesses that donate $1,000 will become members of the library’s Silver Leaf Club.
The E.P. Foster Library recently underwent its first extensive renovation since 1949, which doubled its overall size, expanded the children’s library and created access to the second floor from the rear parking lot. Donors have already contributed more than $160,000 to the campaign.
The check will be presented at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at the E.P. Foster Library, 651 E. Main St., Ventura.
