Swiss Aircraft Firm Staffing New Plant
The Antelope Valley One-Stop Career Center will accept resumes from people interested in working for Swiss aircraft company SR Technics, which will begin operations in Palmdale in June.
About 1,000 workers of various skill levels will initially be hired to overhaul and maintain jets, in addition to converting passenger aircraft to carry cargo.
“They’re going to be hiring everyone you need to run a plant, from internal building maintenance people and maintenance people who will actually be working on the aircraft,” said Danny Roberts, Palmdale’s director of economic development.
The company, a subsidiary of S-Air Group, formerly Swissair, will likely hire 5,000 to 6,000 workers in Palmdale over the next three to five years, said Roberts. Salaries will average $60,000 a year.
SR Technics is expected to announce detailed job descriptions in about a week. Information will be posted on the Employment Development Department’s CalJOBS Web site at www.caljobs.ca.gov.
Resumes can be mailed to the Antelope Valley One-Stop Career Center, attention SR Technics, 1420 W. Avenue I, Lancaster 93534, or faxed to (661) 945-5767.
