Stormy Memories
I really enjoyed the article on Tofino, Canada, on Vancouver Island (“Romancing the Storm,” Dec. 19). It brought back memories of when I was growing up in Vancouver and I took a trip to the island and Tofino in the early 1970s. Half the road to Tofino was only gravel in those days, and it took forever to get there. You couldn’t travel more than 35 to 40 mph; otherwise your car would bottom out in the potholes.
But once there, it was beautiful, and you could actually drive your car on the beach in those days.
