Jaywalker Hit by Car Is in Critical Condition

An Oxnard man was critically injured Saturday night when he was struck by a car as he crossed C Street.
Authorities said Eleazar Nevarez Martinez, 65, was jaywalking eastbound across C Street near 9th Street around 9 p.m. when he was struck by a car driven by Oxnard resident Jaime Martinez Gonzalez.
Police said Gonzalez, 26, did not have time to stop.
Martinez was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition with several fractures and a head injury.
