Re “Postal Service to Seek Hike in Price of First-Class Stamp,” Jan. 12: Remember when 33 cents would buy 11 first-class stamps? That is a 1,100% increase. What other business has increased its prices at this rate?

Has anyone else noticed the terrific job the Postal Service has been doing lately? We’ve seen book rate packages that were supposed to be delivered in seven to 10 days delivered 2,000 miles away in two days, regular mail delivered overnight 90 miles away and priority mail, with its free boxes, delivered reliably and promptly anywhere in the country. And we still enjoy delivery six days a week! Hats off to the Postal Service.
