South County residents may hear loud explosions today and Thursday as Marines at Camp Pendleton train with heavy artillery and powerful explosives.
Marines will be training in an area on the north end of the base using 500-pound bombs and firing 155-millimeter artillery from 6 a.m. to midnight on both days.
The training is routine and may be heard from up to 50 miles away depending upon atmospheric conditions.
