Irvine Beats Northridge in Volleyball

Ty Loomis had 18 kills and six blocks for UC Irvine, which defeated Cal State Northridge, 15-7, 15-3, 15-5, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s volleyball match Friday at Irvine.

In nonconference baseball:

CS Los Angeles 5, Concordia 2--Jason Martini, formerly of Ocean View High, hit a two-run home run for Cal State L.A. (1-0).

In Big West Conference women’s basketball:

Idaho 63, UC Irvine 59--Megan Stafford scored 19 points for Irvine (9-6, 2-1).
