SANTA ANA
A free family membership awaits the child who brings in the largest number of empty aluminum cans to Toucan Day at the Santa Ana Zoo on Feb. 5. Children younger than 12 who bring two empty aluminum cans will receive free admission from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the special event. Sponsored by Great Western Reclamation, the event will feature the fully automated robot “Cycler” to teach children about the importance of recycling. Children will also get to see the zoo’s four species of toucan and will be able to make their own toucan beaks. Proceeds from the aluminum cans will go toward zoo improvements. The zoo is at Prentice Park, 1801 E. Chestnut Ave. Information: (714) 953-8555.
