SEAL BEACH
“Really flat” was the official description of the wave action off Seal Beach this past weekend and the reason for the second postponement of the Surfline Surfing Championships originally scheduled for early January.
Jason Shook, one of the community amateur event’s organizers, said the championships have been rescheduled for Feb. 6 and 7.
Normally a productive time for northwest swells to produce big waves, this winter’s surf condition has been horrible, Shook said. Average wave size has been unseasonably low.
“Since this is a community [not a surf-circuit] event, we have the luxury of being able to postpone it and wait for some surf,” he said.
