Freeway Slaying Victim Identified
The victim of an apparent road rage shooting on the Artesia Freeway in Cerritos was identified Sunday as a 28-year-old Torrance resident, authorities said.
Shawn Davis and a female passenger were driving east on the Artesia Freeway near Shoemaker Avenue on Saturday night when a late-model gray Jeep Cherokee began tailgating them, a Los Angeles County sheriff’s spokeswoman said.
The Cherokee pulled alongside Davis’ car and an argument ensued, the spokeswoman said. The passenger in the Cherokee then pulled a gun and shot Davis in the upper body, forcing his car to crash into a wall, the spokeswoman said.
The female passenger suffered a broken leg and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.
