A 65,000-square-foot Albertson’s supermarket, one of Orange County’s largest, opens today at Harbor Center and is expected to bring more traffic to the recently remodeled shopping center.
“Grocery stores are the most important tenants of an open-air shopping center,” said R. Scott Bell, president of ICI Development Co., which owns the property. “They bring the same shoppers in frequently.”
But Dave Law, who has rented an apartment on Harbor Boulevard near the shopping center for three years, said he won’t be shopping there. He plans to move to Newport Beach soon.
He said the Home Depot that opened there earlier this month has increased traffic on Harbor to nearly unbearable levels.
“I’m going to move because of it,” he said. “With Albertson’s, it will be out of control.”
