That’s Life: Master’s Winning Streak Snapped

Despite 32 points by Joey Penberthy, The Master’s College had a 16-game winning streak snapped by Life University, 87-86, Monday at Marrieta, Ga.
Life (21-1) is the defending NAIA champion and ranked No. 2 behind Oklahoma City.
Master’s (19-3), ranked No. 6, led at halftime, 43-40, but could not hold on despite limiting Life to 10 points under its average. Jimmy Hunter scored 39 points for Life on 14-of-25 shooting.
Penberthy, a senior guard, made 12 of 22 shots, including four three-pointers. Jacy Armbruster had 16 points and Joclin Julmist had 15 rebounds.
Master’s opened its two-game trip to Georgia by defeating Carver Bible College, 143-76, Friday night.
BOYS’ SOCCER
St. Francis 2, Loyola 1--Goalkeeper Raul Calderon had two saves in the final 10 minutes and the Golden Knights (16-3-3, 6-1), ranked No. 6 in the region by The Times, won a Mission League game at Loyola (14-6-3, 5-2).
Ryan Shaw scored his 17th goal of the season and Phil Weinberg had his second for St. Francis.
GIRLS’ WATER POLO
Louisville 7, Alemany 1--Sabrina DeAlba scored both of her goals in the first quarter for the Royals (6-10, 3-2) in a Mission League game at Pierce College.
