Re “Wachs Calls for S. Carolina Boycott,” Jan. 19:
If, as City Councilman Joel Wachs states, the Confederate flag is a symbol of racism, then does it not follow that the United States flag is a symbol of genocide? There should be no question but that the Stars and Stripes flies over this country due to the U.S. government’s systematic destruction of Native Americans.
Where is the outcry over this issue? If America is bent on righting every wrong ever committed in its history, should it not start at the very beginning?
