Matt Ortiz hit two home runs and drove in six runs to power Nevada past Cal State Northridge, 14-8, on Saturday in a nonconference baseball game at Northridge.
Northridge (1-1) committed three errors and issued 11 walks.
Ortiz hit a three-run home run in the first inning after Ryan McDermott (0-1) issued two walks. The Wolf Pack (1-1) built a 12-3 lead after four innings.
Tim Arroyo hit a three-run home run and a run-scoring single for Northridge.
Matt Rainer, from Royal High, started for the Wolfpack and allowed three earned runs in 3 2/3 innings. His brother Mike pitched in relief for Northridge, giving up an earned run in 1 1/3 innings.
