Weiss to Conduct New Season for the Glendale Symphony
Sidney Weiss will conduct all three concerts of the Glendale Symphony’s 2000-2001 season at the Alex Theatre, 216 N. Brand Blvd., in Glendale.
The season begins Oct. 13 with Bach’s “Brandenburg” Concerto No. 2; Mozart’s Symphony No. 36, “Linz”; and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1. Soloists are violinist Sarkis Gyurgchyan, flutist Salpy Kerkonian, oboist Cathy del Russo and trumpeter David Washburn.
The Dec. 2 program offers Bach’s Sinfonia Pastorale from the Christmas Oratorio, and the Orchestral Suite No. 3; Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto, with soloist Howard Zhang; and Haydn’s Symphony No. 96, “The Miracle.”
A Brahms program featuring the Double Concerto, with soloists Tamsen Beseke (violin) and Armen Ksajikian (cello), and the Symphony No. 2 closes the season, March 3.
