DC Air, a new regional airline to be created from assets divested as part of the UAL’s acquisition of US Airways, named as its acting president N. Bruce Ashby. Ashby, 39, is currently senior vice president for planning at Arlington, Va.-based US Airways. He will step into the new post immediately and oversee DC Air’s strategic planning and eventual development of an all-jet fleet, the Washington, D.C.-based airline said. Ashby, who previously held executive positions at both UAL’s United and Delta Air Lines Inc., will serve in an “acting” capacity because of uncertainty regarding the regulatory approval process for UAL’s purchase of US Airways.
