People Power
Perhaps Don Shirley is a frustrated architect (Theater Notes, May 21)? It’s a rare week when at least part of his column is not devoted to a discussion of some Los Angeles structure that has or will or now serves as a performance venue. Wouldn’t it be far more gratifying and valuable if Shirley spent as much energy (and column inches) reporting on the people who make theater happen in L.A.?
If the renovation of the Pantages is all Shirley can find to write about L.A. theater, then maybe it’s time for a new theater reporter.
