Recycled Water
* “Recycling Keeps L.A.’s Supply Safe, Plentiful,” Valley Perspective, May 28.
I find it significant and abhorrent that the authors never once explicitly defined reclaimed waste water as including the sewage that we flush down our toilets. When I read reclaimed waste water, I naively imagined some technology that might allow me, for example, to capture the rinse water from my washing machine, perhaps to be used for watering my lawn or washing my car. Angelenos, are you comfortable with the idea of brushing your teeth with water from reclaimed sewage? I challenge the Department of Water and Power to clearly inform residents of the fact that reclaimed waste water will include sewer water.
