Gun Sales Blocked

* Help me with the arithmetic. In “Background Checks Limiting Gun Sales” (June 5), I read that 204,000 prospective gun sales were prevented by background checks last year. Seventy-three percent of the prospective buyers were convicted felons. So, I guess about 150,000 former criminals who wanted guns just gave up and are now walking around unarmed, right?

But let’s remember: It’s illegal for convicted felons to even attempt to buy guns. And the FBI has their names, addresses and phone numbers. Why aren’t they arrested? Why aren’t they at least searched (under an obviously well-justified search warrant) to see if they found other ways to get their weapons?
