Moorpark High Teacher Awarded Fellowship

* Moorpark High School teacher Brian Friefeld has been awarded a James Madison Fellowship. Friefeld was one of 65 fellowship winners from across the United States, Puerto Rico and U.S. territories. The award supports further study of American history by “aspiring or experienced teachers of American history, American government and social studies in the nation’s secondary schools.” The fellowship will fund Friefeld’s master’s degree course work. The program must include a concentration of courses in the history and principles of the U.S. Constitution.

Discovery Center Receives GTE Grant * The Ventura County Discovery Center has been awarded a $10,000 grant by the GTE Foundation to support the organization’s STARLAB program. The portable planetarium, which travels to area schools, seats up to 30 students who take part in presentations on constellations and mythology.
