MISSION VIEJO
Their little hands are molding clay into tiles shaped like dinosaurs, airplanes and teddy bears that, when finished, will adorn a colorful, mosaic bench at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo.
The 3- and 4-year-olds from Saddleback’s Child Development Center are the latest to help spruce up the campus with sculptures, tile walkways and mosaic benches. The beautification project, which started last school year, also includes cleanup days and designated nonsmoking areas to discourage cigarette litter.
The latest effort to place 20 mosaic benches around campus aims to add color and personality in drab areas.
A couple of hundred tiles will be needed for the bench, which should be completed in the next few weeks.
