1 Man Killed, 1 Injured in Shooting Outside Home
WILLOWBROOK — One man was killed and another injured Wednesday after a shooting in the front yard of a home.
The homeowner, 50-year-old Daniel Lewis, was hit by gunfire in the torso and died at the scene, said Deputy Rick Martinez, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman.
Another man, Trevin Knox, 27, was shot in the arm while he stood in Lewis’ yard talking, Martinez said.
It was about 11 p.m. when three men in an 80s-style Oldsmobile Cutlass pulled up to the curb, Martinez said. One of the men in the car exited the rear of the vehicle and began firing a high-powered assault rifle, Martinez said. The suspect is described as being in his 20s.
The shooting in the 1400 block of East 126th Street occurred a short distance from Athens Park, where a man was killed and eight others injured last week in a drive-by shooting.
