Gas Taxes

Those who want gas taxes reduced are missing the point. The problem is not that gas is in short supply but rather that we Americans use too much; demand in the U.S. is too high. Reducing the tax might well result in reduced prices, thus driving up demand and so increasing prices again. Surely the thing to do is to raise taxes if we must change them!

When demand is reduced, prices will soon follow.
