FULLERTON
Parking in front of Sunset Lane Elementary School will now be limited to a 20-minute loading and unloading area on the west side of Camino Centroloma, the City Council recently agreed.
Diagonal parking in the turnout in front of the school will be changed to parallel parking, designated for three-minute passenger loading and unloading.
The Fullerton School District requested that parking be limited and diagonal parking be changed because of the number of vehicles that park for long periods, making it difficult for parents to load and unload children.
Existing conditions also prohibit vehicles from safely backing out of the parking stalls on Camino Centroloma during early-morning drop-off and late afternoon pickup because of double-parked vehicles.
Those vehicles also restrict traffic circulation in front of the school and reduce safety, officials said.
