Canyons 90, Pasadena 52--Forward Kameelah Purdom had 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Cougars (25-6) in a second-round game at Canyons.
Forward Siosi Tuli added 18 points and eight rebounds, and guard Sha-Tasha Allen had 17 points and for fourth-seeded Canyons.
The Cougars opened the second half with a 20-5 run, ending with a three-pointer by Allen that gave Canyons a 64-34 lead.
Forward Vonetta Lanier scored 14 points and guard Natalie Avanecy, fourth in the state in assists, had 10 points and nine assists for Canyons.
Guard Trena Alston scored 11 points for the No. 13-seeded Lancers (19-11), who were outrebounded, 54-33.
Canyons used a half-court game, rather than its usual fast-break attack, to dominate the first half. The Cougars used a 12-0 run to open a 22-11 lead and added a 13-4 run later.
Becca Voigt hit a 15-foot jumper at the buzzer to end a 9-3 run that gave Canyons a 44-29 halftime lead.
Canyons can qualify for the eight-team state tournament on Saturday, when it hosts No. 5 Irvine Valley.
