High-Wind Warning Issued for Region
The National Weather Service has issued a high-wind warning for mountain and valley regions throughout Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
The north to northeast winds were expected to increase to 40 to 50 mph overnight in the mountains and then sweep down through the lower valleys Friday, said Kurt Kaplan, a forecaster for the National Weather Service.
“If you’re on the road, keep your eyes open for fallen trees and downed power lines,” Kaplan said. “Stay indoors if possible.”
Residents in the warning area are advised to close all windows and secure outdoor objects, such as lawn furniture, Kaplan said.
The strongest winds were expected between midnight Thursday and noon today.
The weather advisory is in effect through today.
