Keohohou Builds 3 Bags at a Time

Oli Keohohou of Newbury Park High is quietly building on a monstrous Southern Section career triples record.
Keohohou, who made a commitment to play for Brigham Young last month, hit her fourth triple of the season against Agoura on Tuesday.
She has 29 career three-baggers and needs three more to match the state record set by Kirsten Kroner of Concord Carondelet from 1984-87.
Keohohou, who hit a single-season record 10 triples as a sophomore, set the Southern Section career record of 19 after only two seasons.
The Times’ 1999 Ventura County player of the year chose the Cougars over top-ranked Washington, No. 9 California and Hawaii. BYU is in its first year of Division I competition.
“I just like it [at BYU],” said Keohohou, who is Mormon. “It felt comfortable. I didn’t feel like it is so softball oriented there. I don’t want my whole life centered around softball.”

There is a silver lining to Moorpark’s 0-11 league record. Nine of the Musketeers’ league losses are by two or one run.
