Southern Section Division II preliminaries--Ventura High senior Josh Spiker qualified first in the boys’ 3,200 and second in the 1,600 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.
Spiker won his 3,200 heat in 9:20.7, more than three seconds faster than any other competitors. He ran the 1,600 in 4:22.29. Nick Zaetway of Saugus was the ninth and final qualifier in 4:26.51.
Senior Erin Brzezinski of Thousand Oaks qualified first in the girls’ 200 meters in 25.23. She also qualified fifth in the 100 (12.51) and seventh in the long jump (16-9).
Royal junior Jaclyn Pederson qualified ninth in the girls’ 800 (2:21.6) and fourth in the 1,600 (5:13.84).
Brian Anderson of Burroughs was the top qualifier in the boys’ 800 (1:54.39). Canyon’s Aaron Hope (1:57.94) qualified as did Agoura’s Jeremy Law (1:59.49).
Sophomore Tim Gregory of Hart qualified in the boys’ 100 and 200.
