Some Extra Help When Navigating Car Rental
- Share via
Alamo Rent-A-Car is revamping several of its locations to serve leisure travelers who arrive laden with luggage and children.
The company recently redesigned its site in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to include free lockers; a play area to keep kids diverted while Mom and Dad complete the rental transaction; a kiosk where a computer spits out directions to hotels, restaurants and attractions; a place to change clothes; and a retail area that sells many of the products found in convenience stores. Next in line for the family-friendly treatment: Los Angeles (where construction on the off-site facility began last week), Denver, Las Vegas, and Orlando and Tampa in Florida.
Meanwhile, National Car Rental, Alamo’s sister organization, is offering “One Click Reservations.” Members of the Emerald Club (which costs $50 to join) can call up https://www.nationalcar.com and, with one click, reserve a car online and get a 20% discount. Nonmembers can get the online discount, but it will take a couple of extra clicks to make the reservation, a spokeswoman said.
