I am writing in response to letter writer Jess Wren (“The Unsuitable South,” May 7), who objected to running an article about South Carolina (“Colonial Corners of the South,” April 23) due to the dispute over the Confederate flag there.
Vacation travel would all but disappear if everyone were to use the criteria he espouses for choosing a place to visit. I doubt there are very many places in this world that are offense-free to everyone.
We should learn from history and not regurgitate it to “get even” for the sins of the past.
