The defending champion Eagles (18-12) play face Calabasas Friday or Saturday at Mayfair Park.

The tie-breaking runs came across on third baseman Liz Nishi’s three-base throwing error on Meghan Holbrook’s ground ball.

Courtney Whale opened the inning with a walk and took second on Christina Lupacchini’s sacrifice. Tory Yamaguchi was safe on shortstop Pilar Robles’ error, with Whale holding at second. Whale and Yamaguchi moved into scoring position with a double steal.

When the count reached 2-and-0 on Kelly Musgrove, Coach John Zabala relieved pitcher Diana Woodward (10-3) with first baseman Jenny Rojas.

On Rojas’ first pitch, Musgrove hit a grounder off first baseman Angela Felix’s glove for an error, allowing Whale to score and tie the game, 2-2. Yamaguchi and Musgrove scored on Nishi’s error. Erin Molloy then hit a sacrifice fly.

Del Rey League champion Bishop Amat (21-7) committed three of its six errors in the sixth.

“We’re used to playing defense pretty good,” Zabala said. “That’s our strength. [Tuesday], we kind of let the balls play us. Against a good team, you can’t give them those kind of opportunities.”

Chaminade has scored the winning runs in the sixth or seventh innings in all four of its playoff victories.

“These kids are a special group of kids,” Harrington said. “They won’t let themselves be denied. These kids have so much heart and courage. Even when their backs are against the wall, they find a way to make things happen. They never give up.”

After pitching shutouts in the Eagles’ first three playoff victories, Lupacchini (17-8) allowed two runs, both earned, and four hits.

Chaminade fell behind for the first time in the playoffs when Kirby Aggaboa and Rojas had back-to-back two-out doubles to put Bishop Amat ahead 2-1 in the fifth.

The Eagles opened the scoring in the third. With two out, Lindsey Weinstein singled to center, moved to third on Shannon Barcelout’s infield hit and a throwing error by Aggaboa, the second baseman. Whale beat out a grounder to Robles, bringing home Weinstein.

It was Whale’s sixth run batted in of the playoffs. She had driven in all the runs in Chaminade’s first three playoff victories.
