Starting Jan. 29, the Huntington Beach City School District will provide a prekindergarten program. The curriculum and related learning activities are designed for children who were too young to attend the regular kindergarten program in September but who will be 5 years old by Jan. 29.
The curriculum is based on the needs and abilities of students rather than age alone. Activities are to develop children’s self-esteem and their attitude toward learning.
The program will be from 8:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. at John H. Eader Elementary and William E. Kettler Elementary schools and from 8:35 a.m. to 1:50 p.m. at Agnes L. Smith Elementary School. Lunch is available for $1.75 per day, or children may bring a lunch. A 20-day lunch ticket is $35.
Registration materials are available through Wednesday at the district’s schools.
