Montclair Prep 69, Bell-Jeff 0--The top-seeded Mounties (11-0) scored three touchdowns in the first six minutes, including two on their first two offensive plays, at Valley College.
Fullback Justin Goss got Montclair Prep off to a rousing start, scoring on a 40-yard run. Gary Sonkur ran for a 68-yard touchdown on the Mounties’ next possession.
Sandwiched in between was Jason Spratt’s 12-yard scoring return of a blocked punt.
Sonkur rushed for 224 yards and three touchdowns in seven carries. Goss added a 44-yard scoring run, finishing with 84 yards and two touchdowns in two carries.
Quarterback Jason Goss, Justin’s brother, ran for 52 yards, including a four-yard touchdown. He threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Deron Smith.
The Mounties’ defense, led by lineman Matt Jacobs, held the Guards (5-6) to 57 yards and led, 48-0, at halftime. A running clock was used in the second half.
