* New Theater--The Woodland Hills Theatre’s inaugural production at the new West Valley Playhouse will be Neil Simon’s comedy “Proposals,” opening Friday. The former Masonic Lodge in Canoga Park was purchased and converted into a 170-seat venue for $1.2 million by the Clyde and Mary Lou Porter Foundation for the Woodland Hills Theatre company.

* Community Fest--The Calabasas Cultural Festival, featuring entertainment, art, crafts and educational exhibits, will be Saturday in Old Town. Dance groups will take center stage, including the Bailes de Espana performing flamenco and the Step in Time School of Dance troupe performing a 2000 Olympics routine. Bluegrass, classical guitar and Latin pop also will be featured.

* Beethoven Concert--Musical Director Robert Chauls will lead the Valley Symphony Orchestra in an all-Beethoven program Saturday in Valley Glen. The Valley College Philharmonic Choir, conducted by Jennifer Kelly, will be featured in Fantasy for Piano, Choir and Orchestra, Opus 80. The “Prometheus” Overture, Opus 43; “Ah Perfido,” Opus 65; and Symphony No. 3 in E flat, Opus 55 will also be performed.

* Hollywood Collectors--The Hollywood Collectors and Celebrities Show is scheduled this weekend in North Hollywood. The event boasts 75 to 100 celebrities from feature films and television, on hand to meet their fans and sign autographs (for a fee). Among those scheduled to attend are Adam West, Cyd Charisse, Linda Purl, Beverly Garland, Susan Ruttan and George Lazenby. The show will also have Hollywood memorabilia.
