Juilliard Jazz Reps to Attend College Fair
Representatives from the new Juilliard Jazz Institute will attend a performing arts college fair Oct. 30 at the Los Angeles Wilshire Grande Hotel, 930 Wilshire Blvd., to provide information about their newly established, tuition-free, pre-professional performance and study program.
Eighteen music students, ages 17 to 25, will be chosen to inaugurate the Juilliard Jazz Institute, a two-year, heavily performance-based program that will include participation in the Juilliard Jazz Orchestra. Graduates will receive a Juilliard artist diploma.
The institute, a collaboration between the Juilliard School and Jazz at Lincoln Center, will seek to admit as full-time students five reed players, four trumpeters, three trombone players, two pianists, two bassists and two drummers.
Competitive auditions will take place April 2-6 in New York at the Juilliard School. The application deadline is Jan. 8.
