Highway to Close for Bridge Work
A portion of California 118 in Somis will be closed from 6 a.m. today until 6 a.m. Oct. 13 while workers fix a temporary structure over Long Canyon Creek.
The shutdown will allow workers to build a permanent bridge 70 feet long and 40 feet wide.
It will have two 12-foot-wide lanes, one in each direction, and two 8-foot-wide shoulders west of Balcom Canyon Road.
Eastbound traffic on the 118 must use Somis Road or the Ventura or Moorpark freeways to bypass construction work.
Westbound traffic should use the Ventura or Moorpark freeways.
Drivers will have access to the area after 6 a.m. Oct. 13.
The remaining work will occur beneath the bridge and will not affect traffic.
