NEWPORT BEACH
Police are investigating the vandalism of three golf greens at the Big Canyon Country Club that included areas of grass painted with Nazi swastikas and the “SS” sign.
The vandals also made lewd drawings and writings on the ground, said Sgt. Mike McDermott, a Newport Beach police spokesman.
Club officials valued one green at $50,000, McDermott said.
The vandals also tore branches off trees and broke some of the tee markers on the golf course, he added. Club officials could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
The vandalism occurred between 7 p.m. Sunday and 6:15 a.m. Monday. Police have no suspects so far, McDermott said.
Police are asking anyone with information about the crime, to call the Newport Beach Detectives Hotline at (800) 550-NBPD (6273).
