LAGUNA BEACH
Two long-term Laguna Beach County Water District board members resigned this week.
President Richard Jahraus, who has been on the board for 37 years, stepped down due to health-related reasons and Vice President Louis Zitnik, who served for 25 years, resigned to protest the agency’s pending Nov. 1 merger with Laguna Beach.
“Serving on the water commission of the city of Laguna Beach has no appeal to me,” Zitnik said in his resignation letter. “A commission would act in an advisory capacity only and the council could completely ignore such advice.”
The board is soliciting applications for new appointments. It hopes to fill the seats at its Oct. 17 meeting, said Michelle Boyd, public relations officer.
