Daunte’s Inferno Is 4-0
How good are the unbeaten Minnesota Vikings?
People had their doubts about the team when Daunte Culpepper was made the starting quarterback. Now, many of those same people are impressed with the team’s 4-0 start.
But as far as receiver Cris Carter is concerned, the biggest question when it comes to all this analysis is, who cares?
“We felt good about the team when everyone said we wouldn’t be that good,” Carter said. “Why should we care what people are saying now? . . . People, for the most part, don’t know what they’re talking about.”
The Green Bay Packers’ lone victory at Detroit in the past seven years was by their Super Bowl-winning team of 1996.
Green Bay (2-3) will try again Sunday.
“In the Silverdome, we never give ourselves a chance,” defensive back LeRoy Butler said. “We’re light years away from playing a great game in Detroit consistently. This will be the medicine we need to get the sour taste out of our mouths after losing at home to Chicago last week. To go 2-4 at this time of the year would be devastating.”
Lion quarterback Charlie Batch has two more interceptions (six) than touchdowns (four). Receiver Herman Moore hasn’t scored a touchdown and has only 11 catches for 104 yards.
“It’s been over a month of doing this,” said receiver Johnnie Morton, who has one touchdown catch. “It’s getting old.”
