Washington’s game against Baltimore, in sharp contrast to any Ram game, won’t be a scoring fest.

“Y’all will be bored,” Redskin defensive tackle Kenard Lang said. “You’ll say this is the most boring game. Actually, a 3-0 game is the best game. That’s when the defense plays well.”

Like the Ravens, Washington’s strength is on defense: Only one of six opponents has scored 20 points.

The kicking game is a different story.

The Redskins are on their third kicker of the season after cutting Michael Husted this week.

His replacement, Kris Heppner, is a rookie out of the University of Montana who was out bowhunting white-tail deer when he got the word he was wanted for a tryout in Washington. Heppner, released by Seattle earlier this season, made nine of 11 field-goal attempts to win the Redskin job.

The New York Giants will see one of their old teammates Sunday: Dallas cornerback Phillippi Sparks, a player the Giants decided not to re-sign after last season.

Giant receivers Amani Toomer and Ike Hilliard said they know Sparks well enough to know how emotional he’ll be.

“We might use that,” Toomer. “Just go out and pick on him, you don’t have to say much, just keep catching first downs against him and he’ll get pretty upset.”
