Harvard-Westlake Gets 9-6 Victory

Jim Bloomingdale and Ricky Offsay each scored two goals and Harvard-Westlake High defeated Marina, 9-6, in a nonleague water polo game Saturday at Los Alamitos.

Will Noll, Andrew Herr, Jim Singleton, Ted Zepfel and Eric Townsend also scored for Harvard-Westlake (12-2), ranked fifth in the Southern Section Division I.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Pepperdine def. Gonzaga, 15-11, 15-7, 15-5--Stacy Rouwenhorst had 12 kills and seven digs, and Melissa Snow had 10 kills and eight digs for the Waves (15-4, 5-0) in a West Coast Conference match at Gonzaga.

Cal Lutheran def. The Master’s, 15-9, 7-15, 15-7, 16-14--Jamie Arnold had 13 kills and seven digs, and Sally Jahraus had 11 kills and 12 digs for the Regals in a nonconference victory at Cal Lutheran.

Cal Lutheran (14-6) got nine kills from Becky Sehenuk and 16 digs from Britney West.

Beth Avila had 15 kills and 19 digs for The Master’s (8-12).

Jahraus had eight kills and Kari Whitney had 19 assists for Cal Lutheran in a 15-1, 15-4, 15-7 sweep of Elizabethtown of Pennsylvania in a nonconference victory earlier in the day.

MEN’S WATER POLO

Pepperdine 6, UC Santa Barbara 5--Greg Lonzo had three goals and Chris Tilden had two for the Waves in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation victory at UC Santa Barbara.

Michael Soltis had seven saves for Pepperdine (7-4, 1-2 in conference play), ranked No. 9 in the nation.

WOMEN’S WATER POLO

Valley 14, Pasadena 5--Julie Olson scored four goals as Valley won the fifth-place game of the Citrus tournament.

Byanka Delgadillo and Meri Gulyan each had two goals for the Monarchs (12-6-1).

CROSS-COUNTRY

UC San Diego Invitational--Marisol Barajas finished third in the 5,000 meters to help Cal State Northridge’s women to a third-place finish at UC San Diego with 102 points.

Barajas finished in 18:45.

Concordia placed four women in the top 10 to win the women’s meet.Melissa Madeson of Cal State Sacramento clocked 18:08 to win the individual title.

The Master’s was 11th, paced by Katie Custis in 47th place at 20:55.

Nick Hamlin finished fifth in the men’s meet (26:12) for the ninth-place Matadors on the 8,000-meter course. Will Custis finished 75th in 29:57 to lead Master’s to 12th place.
