Whieldon Sidelined at Orange Lutheran
Casey Whieldon, Orange Lutheran sophomore quarterback, probably will miss the rest of the season with a broken collarbone, Lancer Coach Jim Kunau said.
Whieldon suffered the injury Friday late in the first half of Orange Lutheran’s 56-26 victory over Brethren Christian. Through five games, Whieldon completed 54% of his passes for 708 yards and eight touchdowns with one interception.
Jason Taylor, a junior who has seen limited playing time, is expected to start Friday’s game against Cerritos Valley Christian.
Robby Hobbs, a junior expected to be the Lancers’ starting quarterback this year before being sidelined before the season with a knee injury, is slowly working his way back into the lineup after taking a couple of snaps last week. Kunau said Hobbs is “still a couple of weeks away” from possibly returning to the starting job.
