“We use Allmond in the second half,” Villa Park Coach Pat Mahoney said, “and he’s really coming into his own.”

Villa Park receiver Sean Cavanagh sat out the game with a minor concussion, and right tackle Sal Solarzano sustained an ankle injury on the game’s third play. He did not return.

“We lacked some concentration,” Mahoney said, referring to his team’s nine penalties and allowing Orange to convert three fake-punt plays into first downs. “But we’ll hit the weight room and be strong, mentally and physically, for Canyon, [Santa Ana] Valley and Foothill, three teams that will give us a battle.”
