Cast-Porcelain Tile Has a Mosaic Feel
These cast-porcelain tiles from Ker.Av, an Italian company, look and feel like a natural stone mosaic. Available on mesh backing or as individual tiles, the Sassi di Sassuolo line is anti-frost and anti-slip, making it suitable for outdoor as well as indoor wall and floor applications. A 4-by-12-inch border tile costs $30; field tiles go for $37.50 per square foot.

A Sink With Versatility
This is no ordinary cast-acrylic sink--with three jets powered by a 1-horsepower pump, it does double duty as a wash basin. The Jentle Jet sink ($585; MTLS-110), which measures 25-by-22-by-14 inches, has a 9-gallon capacity; the basin features a washboard front. The jet action can be adjusted from a gentle swirling motion--ideal for hand-washables and delicate items--to a vigorous agitation. The self-rimming sink, available in more than 60 colors, has a pop-up drain basket with deck-mounted control so there’s no need to plunge your arm into dirty, soapy water to drain the sink.

A Hot-Bulb Alternative
Incandescent and halogen bulbs throw a lot of light, but when they’re used for extended periods they get hot enough to burn you or even start a fire. GE’s new Coolstar JobLight ($29.99) uses a fluorescent bulb that stays cool and lasts for 10,000 hours. The 2.5-pound light, which comes with a built-in handle and cord holder, can be mounted on a wall.
