Transient Arrested in Teenager’s Rape
A transient was arrested on suspicion of rape after a 19-year-old woman was found crying on a park bench, police said Thursday.
The woman described the man to police and said she had been sexually assaulted near a bike path. A short time later police arrested Fernando Perez near Hueneme Road and J Street.
The woman identified Perez, 30, as the man who had attacked her.
Perez was arrested Wednesday and taken to Ventura County Jail, where he remains in lieu of $100,000 bail.
